Herding Instructionโ€‹

  • Christa not only trains and competes with her own dogs but also offers lessons to those that share the passion of herding. Whether training for a trial or working stock on your farm, Christa is available to help. 

  • Most AKC breeds are welcome for training and stock rental is available. 

  • I have over 19 years stock experience and have trained different breeds (loose eye and eye) to advanced levels and championships on sheep, ducks and cattle. 

  • Contact me to begin training with your dog. I'm available weekdays and most weekends.

  • I am also an AKC and AHBA approved judge. โ€‹โ€‹

Ducks

We have ducks, including Call Ducks and runner ducks.  They are also worked by different breeds of dogs and used in herding trials.

Sheep

Promise Pastures has 30+ head of mixed breed sheep consisting of  Katahdin and Dorper. The sheep are worked with a variety of different breeds of dogs, which include Belgian Tervurens, Border Collies, Australian Cattle Dogs, Australian Shepherds, Working Kelpies, and Shetland Sheepdogs,

The Farm and Facilities

  • Promise Pastures is a professional, adequately equipped training facility with sheep or ducks available for your dogs to work.

  • Our facility is available for clubs or individuals to rent for trials, clinics, or seminars. 

  • We have many areas for training which include

    • 40 ft. round pen

  • Working pastures in the following sizes:

    • 50'x50'

    • 100'x100'

    • 100' x 200'

    • 151' x 239'

    • 600' x 300'
